We are a tad geeky around these parts. When we fall face first in love with a show (or movie) we watch every episode or show so often we can quote them like a champ. Our collection matches our random personalities to a tee. Here is just a few (for example) ...
- Big Bang Theory
- NCIS, NCIS LA
- Criminal Minds
- Battlestar Galactica
- The Closer
- The Unit
- Parenthood *(ok a tad behind on this one)
- Once Upon a Time
- Top Chef, Top Chef Masters
- Iron Chef, The Next Iron Chef
To up the level of dorkdom around these parts I must let you in on a little secret that's about too get all sorts of disrupted when we fill this house with children: We are Know-It-Alls. Hubby, myself and the mom-in-law all like to be all sorts of right about our tv shows, cast, characters and actors in real life. I love to see a cameo of a currently popular actor in a 90s episode of JAG and quote all the current bits he/she does. Mom than responds with an off the wall identification of Leonardo DiCaprio instead of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She also knows exactly what motivates Brenda's southern sass on Closer and the personality behind the cast of Chopped. 50% of the time we are all right. It's what keeps our conversations lively and our mouths moving.
In keeping with my trivia and my loves I have a few actors I've found to not only have incredible talent but are also highly intelligent and brilliant when they aren't gracing paparazzi rags or being stalked by cameras. I love reading their tweets, seeing their public instagram's and perusing their fantastic blogs. Here's some ways you waste your time when ya'll are doing the same [pinning].
Mayim Bialik. She makes a cold look great as Sheldon's better half in BBT. When she's not smoking out monkeys she's writing parenting tips for kveller and Todays Moms and holds a PHD in Neuroscience!
P!nk. She's been one of my favorite artists since her first song in the 90s. I love her bantering wit on instagram and her honesty in her tweets. Just living life ya'll.
Whil Wheaton. He's just as geeky in RL as his reoccurring roles on BBT. It's not just the collating on TheBloggess but the Lil'Wil Plushy and the dog shaming and the code talk and the acting bits.
GublerNation! I'm sure I've talked about Matthew Gray Gubler before. He is the smartest doctor we know as Spencer Reid, junior-awesome-chunk on Team Criminal Minds. He writes and draws and donates to charity and has the best Instagram feed. It fills my nerd holes and always makes me smile. Genuine and honest and not the he-said-she-said-photoshop-covers of the magazine racks.
Joe aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt aka So Many Things. I just found Joe's mightyness today. I've been really loving him in all his current work. He makes Robin look so much more than the punk role of the 90s. His facial prosthesis as young Bruce Willis on Looper is a little eerie and totally mesmerizing. His speed on Premium Rush made me want to take up street racing and parkour for a workout. Inception is to the 21st century as the Matrix was at it's premiere. Is it a dream? Are we living in a computer.
All of that aside, did you know Joe is an author?? I was motivated to google his blog after I stumbled into his book at a local store.
it's a tiny-tiny book of tiny-tiny things! everything is better in mini!
I picked iti up and explained to my co-worker. Do you know who this is?? And he writes mini books of fantastic illustration totally reminding me of Gublernation and Where the Sidewalk Ends? My Thursday is complete! I can go to bed happy. (I'm also glad I found his site. It's very cool as well!)

Ah and once again I am reminded how much we have in common.
